MOGUL AND SLOPESTYLE TEAM FORMATION FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Schools can form teams with only the individual competitors who have qualified into the National Interschools Championship in moguls and slopestyle. No additional competitors can be entered to form teams.

 


 

FAQ - State and National Qualification

 

There are three levels of Interschools competition for NSW, ACT, QLD, and SA schools, being Regional, State, and National Championships.

From the NSW Regional Championships (Northern NSW, Sydney, Southern NSW, Regional NSW), subject to confirmed competitive times/scores, up to the top 5 NSW placed teams and up to the top 15 individual NSW competitors from divisions and disciplines will be eligible to compete in the NSW/ACT/QLD State Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis).

For mogul competitors, a minimum acceptable score (for Championship progression) will be determined by the Interschools Committee following completion of each event, and before invitations are extended to the next level of competition.  Mogul Team members (all individual members) progressing through to the next level of competition must meet the minimum standard. 

From the NSW/ACT/QLD State Championships, subject to confirmed competitive times/scores, up to the top 6 NSW placed teams and up to the top 20 individual NSW competitors from divisions and disciplines (including Slopestyle), will be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis).

From the State Slopestyle Championship, up to the top 20 individual competitors from Divisions 1-3, having received a minimum acceptable score, will be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championship.  In 2024 this will include up to the top 6 teams. Slopestyle Team Members (all individual members) progressing through to the next level of competition must meet the minimum standard. 

ACT schools can qualify directly to the National Championships from their results at the ACT & Regional NSW Championships. 

From the ACT & Regional NSW Championship, subject to confirmed competitive times/scores, who place as the top 3 ACT teams, along with the top 8 placed ACT individuals, from all divisions and disciplines, may be eligible to compete in both the NSW/ACT/QLD/SA State Championship and the Australian Interschools Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis). PLEASE NOTE that this Championship is recognised as the ACT STATE Championship, and the pathway for ACT participants to qualify for the Australian Championships.

From the NSW/ACT/QLD/SA State Cross Country Championship, subject to confirmed competitive times, who place as the top 2 ACT, QLD & SA/TAS/NT teams, along with the top 6 ACT, QLD, SA/TAS/NT individuals, from all divisions, may be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis).

From the State Slopestyle Championship, up to the top 20 individual competitors from Divisions 1-3, having received a minimum acceptable score, will be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championship.  In 2024 this will include up to the top 6 teams. Slopestyle Team Members (all individual members) progressing through to the next level of competition must meet the minimum standard. 

In 2024, the NSW/ACT/QLD State Championships will continue to include qualification invites to ACT & QLD Competitors. Participation from ACT and QLD schools will remain optional. ACT schools will receive a national invite along with a state invite from their results at the Regional Championships. ACT schools can choose to enter both or either Championships.

QLD schools will receive a national invite from their results at the Northern NSW & QLD Regional Championships.

From the Northern NSW & QLD Championship, subject to confirmed competitive times/scores, who place as the top 2 QLD teams, along with the top 6 placed QLD individuals, from all divisions and disciplines, may be eligible to compete in both the NSW/ACT/QLD/SA State Championship and the Australian Interschools Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis). PLEASE NOTE that this Championship is recognised as the QLD STATE Championship, and the pathway for QLD participants to qualify for the Australian Championships.

From the State Slopestyle Championship, up to the top 20 individual competitors from Divisions 1-3, having received a minimum acceptable score, will be eligible to compete in the Australian Interschools Championship.  In 2024 this will include up to the top 6 teams. Slopestyle Team Members (all individual members) progressing through to the next level of competition must meet the minimum standard. 

In 2024, the NSW/ACT/QLD State Championships will continue to include qualification invites to QLD Competitors. Participation from QLD schools will remain optional. QLD schools will receive a national invite along with a state invite from their results at the Regional Championships. QLD schools can choose to enter both or either Championships.

From the South Australia, TAS & NT Championships, subject to confirmed competitive times/scores and based upon results, and competency to compete in a National event, who place as the top 2 SA. TAS & NT teams, along with the top 6 placed SA, TAS & NT individuals, from all divisions and disciplines, may be eligible to compete in both the NSW/ACT/QLD/SA State Championship and the Australian Interschools Championship (subject to Interschools Committee analysis). PLEASE NOTE that this Championship is recognised as the South Australian, Tasmanian & Northern Territory STATE Championship, and the pathway for South Australian, Tasmanian & Northern Territory participants to qualify for the Australian Championships.

The official State Invites will be published on the Interschools website after the completion of all the Regional Championships.

The official National Invites will be published on the Interschools website after the completion of the State Championships.

Yes. Teams who have qualified just need to keep one original team member from the team that qualified. 

No. Where there is not a team invite in an event but two or more individuals have qualified, they cannot be entered as a team for the next competition level. They need to be entered as:

Team A - Participant 1

Team B - Participant 2

etc...

Only at the State Championships.

In the situation that less than the top 5 teams and top 15 individuals from a Regional Championship have been invited in a division, the Interschools Committee will review the results of all teams and individuals at ALL Regional events and may invite additional teams and/or individuals to the NSW/ACT/ACT State Championship, who have achieved competitive times.

No additional invites will be given after the Final State Invites have been published.

No. If you missed a championship due to illness, or injury, Interschools does not extend invitations to a State or National event due to prior event history. 

The only exception is the following:

  • Competitors who are currently part of a Snow Australia Emerging Talent Program (ETP) and/or NSWIS Scholarship program or higher.
  • NSW Club competitor who meets the NSW Club Exemption Criteria.
  • Participation at FIS or other Snow Sport Discipline Calendar events, and/or recognised and agreed Pathways training programs (on the day/s of the Championships)
